Pamela Andrews

Until I retired I was best known for my portraits in oils. Now I relax into my painting finding many sources of inspiration, the most recent being the different types of Zebra.

I soon became aware that each of the species has different markings. Within the species each animal has a variation of stripes which like a thumb print, is unique. I have faithfully painted that thumb print; capturing on canvas the mood and feelings of the moment in the animal's life.

Painted in oils on deep edge box canvas the emphasis throughout has been on making the stripes show the underlying shape and create the illusion of an outline.

These Zebra paintings were first shown late in 2008 at The Harbour Lights Gallery in Southampton where sales were encouraging. A further exhibition at Botley Mills resulted in a near sell-out and I am currently ( May 2009 ) busy painting more originals. Details of Giclee prints are available on request.
