Tutored Workshops

A number of tutored workshops, led by professional artists, are organised through the year. Details can be found in the Programme page.

Thursday Workshops

Every Thursday (in term time), a group of Society members meet to paint and draw in any medium.

Starting in the Spring 2011 term, these workshops will be held in Becket Hall, Oyster Street, behind St. Thomas Cathedral, Old Portsmouth. 

Experienced members of the Society provide informal tuition and advice. The environment encourages sharing of information and ideas between members. We have an excellent library of art books.

Members may attend for the whole day (9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) or choose between the morning (9:30 a.m. to 12 noon) and afternoon (12 noon to 2:30 p.m.) sessions. Doors open at 9am. 

Members may choose to pay for the whole term or simply pay a 'drop-in' fee for sessions attended. Fees are £50 per term for a full day student, £25 per term for a half day student and £3 per half day for drop-in student.

The Society also provides all the equipment necessary for members to mount and frame finished work. Professional presentation of work is emphasised in the Society and advice and help are always available in the workshops.

The Thursday sessions follow school term times.

Thursday 22 September -  Thursday 8 December (Half Term is 27 October (no class) and there is no class on 1 December)

Winter Term 2012

Thursday 19 January - Thursday 29 March  (Half Term is 23 February (no class))

Summer Term 2012

Thursday 26 April - Thursday 5 July  (Half Term is 31 May (no class))
